Ridgway Area Trails Reopen with Expanded Network

The Ridgway Area Trails (RAT) system is set to reopen on May 1, following its annual seasonal closure. This year, the reopening is particularly exciting due to the completion of a significant expansion project that adds over six miles of new trails across nine segments. This development enhances the network’s appeal to outdoor enthusiasts and underscores the community’s commitment to promoting active lifestyles.

The expansion is the result of extensive collaboration among local trail builders, community partners, and public land agencies. Volunteers and crews dedicated more than 2,000 hours to bring these new trails to fruition, reflecting the strong community spirit that defines Ridgway.

To celebrate this milestone, RAT will host its annual Opening Day Celebration on May 1 at The Sherbino in Ridgway, starting at 5 PM. The event offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to come together, learn more about the expanded trail system, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with shared outdoor pursuits.
